Specialized Knowledge

At Sandler Law Group, we have focused on personal injury, wrongful death, and medical malpractice law for over 30 years. Our specialty is helping people who have been injured, personally or financially, due to:

  • Automobile, truck and motorcycle collisions;
  • Medical malpractice and nursing home abuse and neglect; and
  • Wrongful death;
  • Or who have suffered the effects of a traumatic brain injury or harm from a drunk driver.

Many people have heard the old adage: “Jack of all trades; master of none.” The legal world is complex and always changing. That’s why we chose, many years ago, to master the areas of law that we believed could help people the most. This way, we can provide skilled legal representation and help our clients recover for injuries they suffer from.

Practical Experience

Greg Sandler and the staff at Sandler Law Group are passionate about serving the needs of injured persons. Over decades of legal practice, our attorneys have handled thousands of cases and have been to trial in courts throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

As experienced trial lawyers, we know that you want an attorney who meets all the following criteria:

  • Specialty in personal injury claims, including vehicle accidents, medical malpractice and nursing home abuse and neglect, and as well as understanding the unique problems associated with a brain injury or claims arising from a drunk driver
  • Skills, confidence and willingness to prepare to take your case to court, if necessary
  • Working relationships to get things done

We know the personal injury system inside and out, from the court system and other attorneys to the insurance companies who review and evaluate personal injury claims. When you have questions, we have answers.

“My prime responsibility is providing my client with complete, honest and professional  information so that the Client can make an intelligent decision about the future of their case”.

I was born and raised in Norfolk and Virginia Beach and I have been a practicing attorney in Virginia for over 30 years.  I currently live in Virginia Beach with my wife, Michelle and an adorable beagle named Eleanor Digby by the Beagles.  My daughter is the manager of the restaurant and catering operations of Omar’s Carriage House restaurant and catering in downtown Norfolk.

For many years my practice has involved representing injured persons, ranging from those hurt in automobile and motorcycle collisions to medical malpractice patients. Over those years, I have had the pleasure of helping thousands of people in getting their lives back, in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Hampton and Newport news, as well as Richmond, Chesterfield, Fairfax.  Through my membership in the American Association for Justice, I have been able to help people a number of other states throughout the country.

I feel it is important to continue specialized education in trial skills practice, and I have completed multiple courses of the National College of Advocacy at Harvard University.  I truly believe that this commitment gives me the ability and the confidence to prepare your case for a trial before a jury.

“If a client’s case cannot be resolved by settlement, under circumstances where the client receives full and fair compensation for his or her injuries, then a trial before a jury is where we go to achieve the fairness that the client deserves. So I take the position, at the beginning of the case, that it WILL be heard by a jury, and preparation for that trial begins on day one.”

I received my law degree, a Juris Doctor,  from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1982, after having received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia in 1979.  I am licensed to practice in all of the courts of Virginia, including the Supreme Court of Virginia, as well as the Federal Courts in the Eastern District of Virginia and Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.   I have been a long standing member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Trial Lawyer’s For Public Justice, the Norfolk Portsmouth Bar Association and the American Association of Justice.

I ride a Harley-Davidson Street Glide and can be found on most weekends as a sponsor of motorcycle charitable events throughout Hampton Roads.  I had the pleasure of leading the Boneshaker’s Social Club as its President.  BSSC is a charitable biker club that has raised over $150,000 for charitable causes over the past years.  Our area is blessed with a large biker community, most all devoted to improving the lives of people in need.  I have made many friends and met fascinating people over the years at biker events up and down the east coast.

greg1Always a fan of a fine glass of wine and a great meal, I have spent a lot of time as a volunteer at many wine tasting events throughout the state.  The Virginia wine industry is rapidly growing and I am trying to work my way through tastings at as many wineries throughout the state as I can.  I have also had a great deal of fun as a member of the Pepper Lover’s Club.  This organization is comprised of people who love to cook and love spicy foods.  We raise funds to benefit animal welfare causes, and are an annual sponsor of a booth at the Norfolk Bayou Boogaloo Festival in June.

It would be my privilege to help you regain control of your life, after someone else’s actions have caused you harm.

Dena Spencer

denaDena Spencer has served as my paralegal and secretary for over a decade.  She is also a native, growing up, and still living in Norfolk, along with her two dogs, Jake and Teddy.  Dena graduated from Granby High School, earned an Associate’s Degree at Tidewater Community College and has been working in the law since 1995.  I really like that Dena has a direct relationship with our clients.  She is often there when I meet the client, she communicates with the clients directly and meets with them to insure that we are doing everything in our power to help them with the successful completion of their recovery and their case.

Outside of the office Dena is the owner of both a green thumb and a white thumb, as her two favorite activities are working in her vegetable garden and baking unique and tasty cupcakes.  I look forward to days when I serve as the guinea pig for a new recipe or new harvest from her yard.

As our client, I know you will find Dena to be a helpful, caring and knowledgeable partner, who is as devoted to returning you to a better place as you are.  Please feel free to give her a call or send her an email dspencer@sandlerlaw.net

In Memoriam ROBERT EPSTEIN

Epstein, Sandler & Flora, PC. | 1930 – 2010

Robert Epstein was my partner for 16 years, until he passed away on April 23, 2010 at the age of 79.  Bobby had practiced law for almost 50 years, and was a well known fixture in the Norfolk Courts as well as in the Norfolk social scene.  Over his long career, Bobby helped countless people, and their children and grandchildren with life’s problems, ranging from traffic matters, to family matters, but his specialty was representing injured people.

I learned an awful lot from my partner, not only about the law, but more importantly, how to help people who have had their lives interrupted, get back what they lost.  Bobby was a big believer in legal education and was a lifelong member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.

Bobby loved people and had the amazing ability to make friends of strangers at every turn.  He was a dapper figure, loved to dance, and was highly respected in our community.  It was a privilege to be his partner and to carry on his mission.

John M. Flora, Esq., Of Counsel

Consultant to Sandler Law Group

I had the pleasure of practicing with John Flora for many years, through Epstein, Sandler & Flora.  John elected to relocate from Virginia with his son, yet, he remains a consultant to me in complex medical malpractice matters, which was one of John’s legal specialties brings.

John was born in Kentucky and attended Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  After continuing his education in Spain, he returned to secure a masters degree at the University of South Carolina and then he obtained his law degree from the  University of Louisville in 1991.   John concentrated his trial practice primarily in complex litigation involving medical malpractice, products liability, and aircraft accidents and was a member of the Etheridge Society, a specialized group of Virginia attorneys devoted to the representation of medical malpractice victims. He holds the designation of Advocate by the National College of Advocacy.   John is currently practicing in Colorado.
